There's also the default detachable cable on the 1990 and two different sets of earpads to adjust the tuning to your liking. If you have the budget for it, go straight for the 1990. Hebolo.

Finally, I don't find the mid on the 990 recessed. To my ears the 880s a bit bass shy, and adding the bass makes the mids less prominent. To me the 990's sound FABULOUS :-D My one quibble is the new 990 headband-- it is too thin and hard. I vastly prefer the puffy one on the 990 pro, and 880s. However, the padding can easily be replaced. u/Strix-7 How's your DT 990 Pro 250 ohms running on the Fosi Q4? I think although Q4 only marked for impedance 16-200 ohms, it should be fine driving a 250 ohms headphone. Beyerdynamic's classic DT lineup, featuring the 770, 880, and 990s, is a trusted range of studio reference headphones. Each pair offers a unique monitoring experience for music production or hi-fi listening. The Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro headphones are an open-back set intended for mixing and mastering. Open vs. Closed Headphones (DT 990 vs. DT 770)

Open headphones for studio and hi-fi. In a nutshell. The Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X cost 249 euros and, especially with regard to their sound, impressed us with a price-performance ratio that was worth seeing and hearing. They deliver a treble-emphasised signal that offers a great tonal openness towards the higher frequencies.
I think the X2hrs and the HD 560s are more neutral than DT 990 pro and maybe have a slightly wider sound stage. DT990 PRO feels like a more sturdy build quality, has less distortion at low volumes than X2hrs. It also feels less bulky than both in the head.

The DT 1990 is better balanced and while still sibilant, it’s not like the DT 990. The DT 900 has more in common with the 1990 (without being so sibilant) then with the 990. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money but you still want to experience the Beyer sound, the the DT 900 are a very good choice. If your wallet allows it, get the DT Uuh eehhana.
